7. Lace Doilies "The Canvas And The Letter" (Un-Iverse #61)

 Rating Hard PG-13/R. The first story is closer to an R with its Vic Puff grossness but the second (fun) story has it's share of bloody violence too. Look out for gore, adult themes, strong language, sexual situations, and discussions of rape in this one.

"The Lace Doilies are here today," was long supposed to be a running gag when I envisioned the title going back decades, and I'm glad this isn't the first time I was able to use it. It's not as ever-present as planned, but it's been used more than once too.

My name is Matt Zimmer and I have created a crudely drawn comic book (mostly in the pencil stage) and I have drawn over 50 issues at this point. I will be posting them all on this blog.  What is Gilda And Meek about?  It's about several things at once. It's a story of a Lucky Universe in a Multiverse teeming with Unlucky Ones and how our hero navigates that to her own advantage. It's a funny animal book that bit by bit reveals a huge fantasy and science fiction underpinning, much like Bone. It starts off as an erstwhile comedy until you realize it's actually been a drama the entire time. It's a story that after you read all 90 issues, you'll want to reread them again, as the best reading of The Un-Iverse isn't the first, it's the second. 1. Gilda And Meek "Groundwork" Special Edition (Un-Iverse #1)

Rating: PG-13 (Bloody Violence and Drug Use).  A Note About The Special Edition Of Gilda And Meek "Groundwork" The first version of Groundwork looked absolutely terrible. I had not drawn in over 15 years when I put it to paper in 2015 and my weak arm and lettering indecisions made the issue look incredibly unprofessional. Not my best foot forward for getting people into Gilda And Meek on this site.  So I've taken the occasion to entirely redo the artwork with some minor script revisions. It looks much closer to my current art style and yet I feel the rough spirit of the first version is still present. As the Groundwork for the canon, it was sort of designed to be the worst issue to start out with, and to be built upon and improved from there. I think it's probably still the worst issue (as designed) but I'm no longer ashamed of the artwork.
