About Me

My name is Matt Zimmer. I was born in 1975. I live in Framingham, Massachusetts. I created Gilda when I was in the first grade and this mess just took off from there. 

My favorite comic strips and books are Bone by Jeff Smith, Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck by Carl Barks and Don Rosa, Calvin & Hobbes by Bill Watterson, and Bloom County by Berkeley Breathed. 

My favorite animated series are Justice League Unlimited, The Simpsons, Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures, and She-Ra And The Princesses Of Power.

Favorite live-action series are Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Twin Peaks, Farscape, Sesame Street, and The Orville. 

Favorite Movies is a loaded question: But the two I keep coming back to are Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Fantasia. Easy answers. 

For books I am a big Stephen King fan. I also used to be way into Harry Potter before... well... you know. 

For music, I like listening mostly to Soundtracks from movies and musicals. 

I love Christmas. Not as much as Gilda does, but nobody does. I still love it a lot. 

I am a Partisan Democrat. I believe people should be kind to each other. 

Hobbies including collecting toys, comics, and Blu-Rays. I have an alarming amount stuffed animals that I all love equally. 

I also post reviews for various TV shows, movies, books, and comic books at my Dreamwidth Journal.

Welcome To Gilda And Meek And The Un-Iverse!

My name is Matt Zimmer and I have created a crudely drawn comic book (mostly in the pencil stage) and I have drawn over 50 issues at this point. I will be posting them all on this blog.  What is Gilda And Meek about?  It's about several things at once. It's a story of a Lucky Universe in a Multiverse teeming with Unlucky Ones and how our hero navigates that to her own advantage. It's a funny animal book that bit by bit reveals a huge fantasy and science fiction underpinning, much like Bone. It starts off as an erstwhile comedy until you realize it's actually been a drama the entire time. It's a story that after you read all 90 issues, you'll want to reread them again, as the best reading of The Un-Iverse isn't the first, it's the second. It's a bunch of random and seemingly unrelated characters and stories building and crossing over until they collide in an epic 19-part finale. 1. Gilda And Meek "Groundwork" Special Edition (Un-Iverse #1)

Rating: PG-13 (Bloody Violence and Drug Use).  A Note About The Special Edition Of Gilda And Meek "Groundwork" The first version of Groundwork looked absolutely terrible. I had not drawn in over 15 years when I put it to paper in 2015 and my weak arm and lettering indecisions made the issue look incredibly unprofessional. Not my best foot forward for getting people into Gilda And Meek on this site.  So I've taken the occasion to entirely redo the artwork with some minor script revisions. It looks much closer to my current art style and yet I feel the rough spirit of the first version is still present. As the Groundwork for the canon, it was sort of designed to be the worst issue to start out with, and to be built upon and improved from there. I think it's probably still the worst issue (as designed) but I'm no longer ashamed of the artwork.
