Author's Note Gilda And Meek #14 "The Bug Aliens: Part Two: The Next Phase" (Un-Iverse #25)
The Narrator getting inside Bernadette's head and going on and on about how Gilda is going to fail is another one of those scenes you would only see in The Un-Iverse and the kind of scene only I would write. Bernadette and the Narrator seem absolutely sure Gilda's plan is stupid, but the reason is never made clear to the reader themself. Only upon seeing her finally fail does the Narrator reveal the plan failed because Gilda doesn't actually suck. And even if the reader is intrigued and kept guessing at the reasons Bernadette was SO sure this plan wouldn't work, it's a uniquely Un-Iverse-style twist in being something that the reader thinks couldn't have ended any other way. It's not an obvious mystery. Until you learn the answer. Then it never could have been anything else.
While I am tooting my own horn, Meek speaking about "Operas and Laments about The Girl Who Sucked" is the kind of perfect line you can only hear in Gilda And Meek. I am the ONLY writer who has their characters speak that way. Epic and flowery rhetoric to say something ridiculous and mean-spirited. If there IS a selling point to me about Gilda And Meek And The Un-Iverse it's that a LOT of it is stuff you can ONLY see here. I'm not saying the story has no influences and is not derivative of stuff I loved and grew up with as a kid. But for a LOT of it, its voice is entirely unlike any other comic book, TV show, book, or movie. And I am aware of how rare that fact actually is and am proud of it.
